Day-long LSA Bootcamp to demystify digital marketing for Chicagoland business owners
TROY, Mich., August 12, 2016 — There are more searches coming from mobile devices than desktop computers and mobile is now the primary way consumers find local business information. Yet an online audit of over 170,000 Chicago small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) found that 49% don’t have mobile-ready websites.
In an increasingly complicated digital marketing landscape, local business owners face a range of challenges not limited to mobile-readiness. SMBs in the United States now use, on average, more than seven marketing methods to promote themselves, according to Local Search Association (LSA) data. That number has been growing and reflects the growing complexity of digital marketing.
To help local business owners better understand and navigate the fast-changing world of internet marketing, LSA created LSA Bootcamp, a digital marketing intensive in a non-sales environment. Following successful events in Los Angeles, Charlotte, Atlanta, Portland, Austin, San Francisco, Denver and Detroit, the program is coming to the Gleacher Center in Chicago on August 16.
“Digital marketing has become more challenging, not easier over time,” said Greg Sterling, Vice President of Strategy & Insights for LSA. “We’ve created an opportunity for business owners to learn and get their practical questions answered in a zero-pressure environment.”
The purpose of these events is to provide business owners with practical, straight-forward information and direct access to leading internet companies, such as Google, Microsoft, Yelp and others. The Chicago event will also feature Chicago startup Belly, discussing customer loyalty and “How to Build a Devoted Customer Base.”
“Business owners understand that customer loyalty is important they just don’t always know how to achieve it,” said Lauren Licata, Senior Director of Marketing at Belly. “Our goal is to show that with the proper tools and a little bit of knowledge, every business and brand can have loyal customers.”
The program is intended for both digital novices and those with digital marketing experience. LSA Bootcamp also offers informal peer networking and access to sponsors and exhibitors for in-depth discussion of their specific marketing issues and questions.
