Facebook, Yext, USA TODAY NETWORK Leaders Join Local Search Association’s Board of Directors

Troy, Michigan, March 13, 2018 -- The Local Search Association (LSA) announced the addition of Phillip Rather of Facebook, Joe Marchese of Yext, and Paras Maniar of Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK to its board of directors.

Over the last five years, the LSA board has evolved to represent the diversity of companies participating in the local and location-based media segments, which includes publishers, search engines, social media, location intelligence companies, digital agencies, technology providers and more.

With their perspective and collective expertise, the board guides LSA in its evolving mission to deliver greater support, value and benefits to the Association's growing membership. LSA has welcomed over 200 new members in the last five years.

"We are the only organization whose sole focus is on all aspects of local marketing and we represent the full spectrum of companies, regardless of platform or channel," said Neg Norton, president, Local Search Association. "Phillip, Joe and Paras are great additions to the board, representing the most prominent social media platform in the world, a leader in the local business data space and a leading local marketing services provider."

At a February 2018 board meeting in Chicago, the LSA Board of Directors approved the instatement of Rather, Marchese and Maniar to the board.

Phillip Rather, Head of Local Partnerships, Facebook: Phillip Rather is an entrepreneur and technology veteran working on scaling Facebook’s media and platform products to localized companies across the world. Phillip was an early hire for Facebook in Austin where he helped grow it into one of the company’s largest offices, and the main hub for Facebook’s SMB support operation. He initiated many of the first relationships and ideas that ultimately became Facebook’s Marketing Partner program, and is now building technology and sales channels to service local, franchised, and co-op driven industries.

Joe Marchese, SVP Sales, Yext: Joe Marchese serves as Senior Vice President, Strategic Partner in the US for Yext. Joining Yext in May 2016, Joe was initially tasked with launching a sales channel focused on Yext’s Middle Market business. Prior to Yext, Joe led Business Development at CAN Capital, ran North America sales for TravelClick and held various enterprise sales and product leadership positions spanning 10 years at D&B. Joe began his career working in Investment Banking for Bear Stearns after earning a BA in Finance from Georgetown University.

Paras Maniar, President, Local at Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK: Paras Maniar currently serves as President of Local at Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK and as President of North American Sales at ReachLocal, which was acquired by Gannett in 2016. He is responsible for over $1 billion in local market sales across Gannett’s 109 media organizations as well as ReachLocal’s North American sales organization. Paras joined ReachLocal in May of 2015 as Chief Strategy Officer and has led the business in corporate development, business development, marketing and North American sales. He has served as Principal and Head of North America at venture capital firm WPSChallenger, as a founding executive and board member of media startup EQAL, and held positions at McKinsey & Company, Latham & Watkins, JP Morgan Chase & Company, and at email-marketing startup MarketHome. Maniar is assuming the LSA board of directors’ seat currently held by Sharon Rowlands, president of USA TODAY NETWORK Marketing Solutions.

Additionally, due to organizational changes, Eric Webb, president of Mindstream Media, will be stepping down from LSA’s board of directors.

“It has been a pleasure working with Eric over the years and LSA is grateful for his ideas and his service,” said Norton.

In addition to these board changes, current board members include executives from Acquisio, DAC Group, DexYP, Fairway Group, Google, hibu, Microsoft and Vivial. You can view LSA's Board of Directors by clicking here.
